• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Question Centos 7 vs Centos 8

mirazbira

New Pleskian
I have found that Centos 7 has end of lifetime on June 2024 a Centos 8 on December 2021. Does this mean that the life expectancy of Centos support is only 3 years at this moment ? Should I set up new servers in version 7 ?

Currently, Centos 7 is end of life in June 2024. Since the recent update, Plesk also runs on Alma Linux, and some users think that this will be the proper replacement for CentOS in the future, because it is RHEL compatible and an upgrade from CentOS to Alma Linux is supported by Alma Linux with some simple commands. However, at this time, Plesk does not yet support such an in-place ugprade.

If you have a new server, it may be the right choice to start with Alma Linux. For existing CentOS 7 installations, you can still stay with CentOS 7 for a while.
