chmod 77 userirgts dont work

Hello,
I am using Plesk11 on CentOS6.
Im new to this system.
When adding domains the filerights are set extremly low.
i can only change file permissions over the plesk admin panel, not on my FTP.
Then i have installed this wordpress installation.
The fodlers have ben CHMOD to 777 for uploading.
Eventhough this is done correctly now, folders cant be uploaded as it seems that this script returns an error for incorrect file permissions.
how can i set the overall filepermissions?
How could this problem be solved?

If you are trying to create or manage these folders through wordpress then you may want to run the site as FCGI or CGI mode in php instead of apache so that you can reset it back to 755 and have it work ok.
