• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

DNS problems (Plesk 6.5 on Windows 2K3)

Hi all,

I'm setting up my new Plesk 6.5 server and am having problems with DNS.

I have two DNS servers:

ns3.eye-webserver.co.uk
ns4.eye-webserver.co.uk

I have updated a few test domains to point to these nameservers.

Plesk uses the IP that NS3 resolves to, which are:

NS3: 67.20.xxx.10
NS4: 67.20.xxx.11

But after domain propogation the domains just die, no ping, nothing :(

What do I need to do in Plesk to get domains working?

I have already followed the below, this morning:

Do I need to configure Windows DNS too?

Gulp, since that's my attempt at a guide to doing this, I'd better reply.

Is it possible that your nameservers are not registered with your domain name registrar?

Is your server hosted by ServerMatrix? If not, there may be some steps you have to follow (such as asking your host for extra IP addresses).

It seems that Windows DNS was running which was causing the PLESK bind to fail.

All works now :D
