Domain aliases and email

I understand that when a domain alias is created, all web traffic directed to the alias is redirected to the parent domain. I'm wondering it this is also true for email.

If I have domain.com and domain2.com is an alias for it, does mail sent to user@domain2.com go to user@domain.com?

Or do I need to set up domain2.com as a forwarding domain instead, and set up forwarding mail accounts on it?

Don't confuse an alias with a redirect. A domain alias serves up the same data as the base domain, but does not change the address in the browser address bar. Essentially, you're looking at the same page under a different (aliased) domain name.

A redirect can change the location that the browser is at to any other valid URL.

But in answer to your main question, yes. E-mail will be accepted on the alias address provided you have the "Mail" box checked in the Domain Alias preferences.
