Dr Web, do I need it?

Andrew_Newth

Basic Pleskian
Hi there, I use the mailenable server to send submitted web forms only, there are no clients using the server for day to day mail stuff. In this case do I need to have Dr Web antivirus running on my server? Just that it uses 280MB of ram and I wouldn't mind freeing that up if I don't need the AV running.

Cheers!

Hi Andrew_Newth,

it's really your very own choice, what sort of security software you use on your server. Plesk works as well without a firewall and without an anti-virus software, but do you really want to have a server, without the possibilty to scan suspicious messages and files? RAM is really cheap these days, but loss of data, or even possible legal actions against you are much more expensive.
