• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Question Email Archiving by Date?

18.0.59 Update #2
Not particularly a plesk question....but I have a mailbox (personally) of 80gb on a plesk server.

I do not want to delete the emails, but understand that I don't need 14 year old emails on a production server somewhere. I do want them accessible and searchable. Is there an application (desktop) or otherwise that can be used to download some messages that will allow me to ever view or search them later?

Any ideas on how to handle?

What you could try is to connect the mailbox via POP3 (instead of IMAP) using a mail client (Thunderbird for example). The client will download all email messages and store them locally. After which you can disconnect the client. I am not sure what exact steps are involved. You'll have to try yourself. I do recommend however to setup a test mailbox first and try that first. Also beaware, if I am not mistaken, Thunderbird deleted messages older than 14 days from the servers mailbox automatically when connecting via POP3 by default. You can disabled able in the Thunderbird settings somewhere.

I also found another tutorial for Outlook that accomplish something similar.

Hope this helps.
