Error 1713: un-installing is fail.

all I want to do is reinstall plesk so I can fix the FTP, I clicked ok before choosing a ftp in Plesk and it worked...
well now when I login to ftp it fails to retreive the directory listings.

So I want to reinstall, since I havn't done much.
Then, I get an error 1713...

"Error 1713:
Parallels Plesk Control Panel 8.6.0 for Microsoft Windows cannot install one of its required products.
Contact your technical support group."

I havn't done anything, why does uninstalling have to be so difficult!??!
I'm about to just reformat and use CPanel, or something. -.-

As much as I like plesk, i'm willing to give it a chance first.

I have come accross the same issue on a server with win2003 and plesk 8.6 I cant uninstall plesk. The remove goes so far and then gives a 1713 error.

I ran the plesk uninstaller with logs enabled. Here is the output at the point of failure:

Hi, I've got the same problem too on win2k3.

yep, it took me a while to uninstall plesk and reinstall it.

The uninstallation of plesk does not stop the dll process files that is why you encounter uninstallation problems. It stuck when it tried to uninstall plesk mysql which is by default installation.

What you have to do is to disable all services that is related to plesk and then use the windows installation cleaner from Microsoft to remove some uninstallation related to mysql and odbc database connection modules.

After that, you should be able to uninstall plesk completely. Do not forget to delete plesk folder and related regitry files. I used ccleaner to clean out the leftover registry after I finish the steps above.

The 2 key things your solution solved is the need for plesk services to be disabled and the registry keys removed. CCleaner works well to clean out the registry.

So I stopped all service wich are from plesk (i think), removed all plesk services, clean the reg and the error is always there...

Do you have any error log that you can share....do not forget to disable the "mysql" service through control panel > administrative tools > services

*Curious of what components from plesk you installed?

also, check if mysqld-nt.exe is running on your process, if it is, kill that process tree.

if you still have a problem uninstalling plesk, try to make sure MySQL Connector/ODBC (MyODBC) driver is removed from windows install clean up and go to your control panel Datasource ( ODBC) and remove mysql under the driver's tab
*this only requires if mysql connector/odbc was not uninstalled successfully. Most of time, you don't have to do that, but it will prevent the failure of reinstallation.

I dont wanna update, i want to uninstal... i didnt have the file plesk_distributive.exe and the uninstal runs over the controlpanel from Windows, there i cant work with parameters like /l*v c:\plesk.log

Hi Laire,

You can uninstall plesk by running your original installer. Eg plesk_distributive.exe = plesk_8.6.0_build080722.15.exe

You need to open a windows command prompt and navigate to where you download plesk to. Eg c:/plesk_8.6.0_build080722.15.exe

You then type "plesk_8.6.0_build080722.15.exe /l*v c:\plesk.log" You will then run through the installer selecting the un-install option. You will find a log file located c:\plesk.log with details of the uninstall process.
