• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

I get the following error, when a reseller tries to create a new domain. The ftp user is created every time he tries to create a new domain, we get email notification of creation, but no domain created.

what is the problem?

Try checking "Management of access to the server over SSH" permission for Reseller and for Service Plan they use for domain creation. Make sure they are aligned

The same happens with the setting you request. and i dont think, i have to give a reseller a SSH shell access, to create domains. And i dont want to give ability to connect over SSH to nobody other then me.

Yes, surely you may want to not share SSH access. I just supposed that a privilege to grant SSH access isn't given to your reseller, but they attempt to include SSH access for their domains...

no, i check it, check all his plans, and try to add a domain without a plan. The same thing happen.

I am getting the same error on Plesk 10.2 when to add a subscription, even when "Service Plan" is set to "None"! Does this make any sense? The behavior is similar to BobbyR's, except that the subscription account name is apparently added in the database because I can't re-use it, but its not visible.
Under which circumstances is Plesk supposed to configure a secure shell for a subscription, if the reseller "Management of access to the server over SSH" set to "Not allowed"?

"Error: no secure shell available" fixed!

Hi guys,

just for the records, I found what the problem was with this one. Plesk 10 has, in the set of permissions, something that says:
"Setup of potentially insecure web scripting options that override provider's policy" (btw, I really have no idea what this text really means, the documentation is very scarce here). This permission / feature / whatever can be enabled / disabled per reseller, per service plan and per subscription. If the option is unchecked (which is the default), basic Plesk functionality will become simply unavailable if logged in as non-admin, such as:
- create a subscription
- change the ftp account password
- deploy applications (e.g. Wordpress)
As soon as I ticked that box ("Setup of potentially..."), I was able to do all the above.
The "Error: no secure shell available" message has *nothing* to do with "Management of access to the server over SSH" setting, because, with or without the latter one enabled, I still kept getting this error.
This "Setup of potentially insecure blabla" is a feature which, obviously, was never tested in the Parallels QA labs, because having this unchecked clashes basically with the some essential functionality Plesk is supposed to provide, like the above mentioned ones, and which is achieved by executing scripts which are not allowed in the default configuration, how clever is THAT? If this feature was tested as a non-admin, this bug would have been so obvious from the very beginning.
I don't even know if Plesk product management team had a clear idea about what they wanted to achieve with this in the very beginning, just as I believe the developers didn't know exactly what they had to do once they started to write the code.
It's that, sometimes, these bugs turn out to be in fact bad design decisions, based on unclear specifications.

Have an excellent day,
Adi

Thanks Adi, thats helps out me. Now reseller can create domains.

same problem here

hello,

adding a new costumer without subscription works, if i add a new costumer with subscription adding failed with error:

Error: No secure shell available

"Setup of potentially insecure web scripting options that override provider's policy " is not active/set for the subscription ? What should i do now adding new clients with subscription ?

thanks for any help

Hmm ... honestly, I'm not sure about either issue. I can only think that it would report "No secure shell available" if you removed the SSHTerm package. It could be related to your previous post:

by default installing plesk the ssh term package was not installed, after installing it everything is fine and there is no further error message "Error: No secure shell available" anymore, adding clients with subscriptions works now .-)

Hello,

10.4.4 Update #19

I have the same issue - but I tried all fixed named here. Without success. The only thing which helped was a reboot of the complete server.

That can't be the solution.

So how to solve this issue?

Cheers

Plesk 10.4.4
Hi recently I've found the same problem
But, logged in as ADMIN, when I try to create suscription, change an ftp account, etc:
"Error: No secure shell available plesk"

I haven't changed anything in plesk, or it's configuration.
I think It has happened since Plesk version 10.4.4 (Mar 30, 2012)
I've tried all the solutions but i happens the same (logged as admin)

I want to create new domains, but I can't.

Why?

My solutionhis

... I found the problem by myself.

After I reconfigured the firewall settings and used the original default setup - my issue disappeared.
