  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Ive just updated, to what I thought was a successful update..

Until I tried to visit my websites, I am now unable to access any website on my server, I have rebooted, restarted services etc etc.

I get this message in my logs

Mar 28 18:39:21 p15195660 httpd: (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:443
Mar 28 18:39:21 p15195660 httpd: no listening sockets available, shutting down

But after hours of searching, nothing else is using the processes
or maybe this isnt even the issue....

PLEASE HELP !!!!!!!!! All of the hosted domains are now down, well for about 9 hours now..

I wish there was an "undo" mechanism built into plesk...

Hi ideasmultiples

Thanks for taking the time to reply..

I wish it was that simple, Ive tried that numerous times throughout the day and it doesnt work.

There is only 1 process listed when I run that
fuser 443/tcp

So I kill it and start httpd but no joy, no websites still.

They are found, but dont load

i.e http://www.sws-solutions.co.uk

After I kill the only process and run :

httpd -k restart

I get the following message twice..
httpd not running, trying to start
httpd not running, trying to start

post result of fuser 443/tcp
Test using (after kill fuser porcess):
killall -9 httpd
service httpd restart

send, S.O. and plesk version

Ok here it all is...

#command
fuser 443/tcp
#result
here: 443
443/tcp: 2350

#command
killall -9 httpd

#command
service httpd restart

#result

Check Website same url : http://www.sws-solutions.co.uk
and it stays on : Waiting for http:/.............

Plesk version is latest 8.1.1 release, running on Fedora Core 2
through 1and1

Server was 100% until I run the auto updater.

it is very rare what happens…
use
service psa stopall
service psa restart

P.S I appreciate the efforts and lenght your going through to help

Hi,

Your website looks up now.

Has the issue been solved ?

If yes, how ?

1and1 referred the fault to SWSoft technical support

They apparently found a fault with IONCube on startup, causing all of the issues, however never told me what they changed to fix it.

As of yet I have not found a changed ini / cnf file

HUGE PROBLEM solved

it was quite easy after the issue was recognized: there is nothing using port 443! thus no "netstat" or "ps -aux" or "fuser" will show you no nothing not at all.

so why does it (apache) say its already in use when it's not?

answer: it (apache) itself is trying to use it twice!

from there its easy to solve the issue: just go to /etc/apache2/listen.conf and comment out the line "listen 443". good place to look for this line is the end of the file.

worked for me.

maybe you need to grep for "443" in /etc/apache2 to make sure there is no vhost.conf or the like which tells apache to listen 443 again and again...
