• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Fear and trepidation

We've spend the last 4 months battling the never ending onslaught of bugs caused by 7.6.1.

We are now exhausted, but have managed to develop work arounds for most of the problems.

I'm terrified that if we upgrade to 8.1 we are going to have to go through this whole ordeal again.

I second that. Im still having problems with 7.6.1 but the thought of more stuff going wrong after the upgrade is a bit scarry.

I had some problems with Plesk 7.6.1, but all problems were with NTFS Permissions. I've fixed manually them, and after 1 or 2 weeks I had Plesk 7.6.1 running smooth and fast until now...

I'm very interested in upgrading to Plesk 8, but I'm afraid of more problems. I'll wait some more time.

I'll be nice if people post here in forum theis experiences after upgrading.

second that

second that!! I too scared to try the upgrade now! I'l have to wait a few weeks, and check out what the others say..

I upgraded today to 8.1 no problems so far, I clone my server HD before upgrading. When I upgraded to 7.6.1 I had a lot of problems with permissions.

Changing the password for a mail account doesn't work at all in Plesk 8.1. I submitted a ticket to SWsoft and after over 4 days I still didn't receive any solution.

Even paid support sucks.

When I contacted them about the mail queue locking up in 7.6.1 (something that is still happening now) they finally told me to change the mail server from mailenable to something else.

Not exactly a solution. They also refused to beleive there was a problem and thought it was due to spam. Even though I provided them with tons of information on what was happening.

Rather than upgrading to 8.1 im going to investigate migrating to another control panel.

If you switch to another Control Panel, please let me know to which one.

I think Plesk is one of the most professional control panels available. Helm, dotnetpanel and other panels for Windows are just "beginners" The structure and security of Plesk is the most advanced one.

This is my opinion about plesk.

Henry, ive been using plesk for a couple of years and ive always agreed that it looks the most professional and provides all the features I could ask for.

The problem I have is with swsofts response to support issues. I have access to paid support via my hosting provider. Trying to get them to acknowledge a problem exists or to get a reasonable response out of them is like pulling teeth.

If they read the forums they would see that lots of people experience the same bugs and errors. Im sure they could release more hot fixes to solve these problems rather than having to live with bugs until the next version is released months down the line.
