• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Hi,

We have a windows 2003 server with Plesk 8.4 and need to migrate all the domains and data to windows 2008 server with plesk 8.6.

Is it possible? How?

Parallel support please help me as soon as possible.

Migration from 8.2 to Plesk 8.6 Win2008

Dear support,

We have try to do the migration without luck. Our old server running on win2003 and Plesk 8.2 stops responding after 15-20 minutes when running the migration and only thing to wake it alive again is to shut down the power and reboot the server. It is not even possible to take an backup with Plesk backup anymore, same thing there: the server hangs for some reason.

For your information: the scheduled backup used to work fine but not anymore. We cannot not do any backups on our server with the Backup-utility and... of course migrations does not work either.

We have about 300 domains and 180 clients to backup... so we are desperate of some support on this problem!

Hello Robert.S,

Please try to migrate only one client or domain at once. If this will not help please provide us with the migration logs.

Thanks.

Better Plesk backup solution

Dear support,

I did it like this:
1. Saving an psc-file for every client with Plesk Backup, configuring not to suspend control panel services, only the selected clients domains. Configuring also where to store the psa-file.

2. Created an batch-file and in that file created one line for every customer like this:
%PleskAdminBin%\backup.exe --batch-mode --config-file "[Drive]:\[Folder]\[Client].psc"

3. The Batch file runs as scheduled task every night.

When I now execute this Batch-file, the backup works great. Because the backup.exe runs only for one customer at once, there is no high cpu for long time of period and no memory-leaks. The result of this solution is one psa-file for every customer in my Plesk. This solution is also great because it is more logical to store my customers file separated from each other. The backup-utility is not overwriting any psa-files, the next created file automatically gets an [1], [2] etc. for the backup-file.

Maybe some providers got some help with this...

I upgrade from 8.4 to 8.6 AND now I have a problem and don't have HELP to plesk's staff... incredible!

Migration doesn't work

Hello,

I just bought a new Windows 2008 server with Parallels 8.6.0.1 and trying to move all clients from older server Plesk 8.2.0 and having hard time with it.

On my old server ( Plesk 8.2.0 ) I run backup utility and download the backup file to my local PC ( The file has no extension..... Is this normal ? ) when trying to restore that backup file to new server ( Parallels 8.6.0.1 ) I am getting error

Error: The file C:\Program Files\Parallels\Plesk\Backup\/domainname.com/username is not a valid Plesk domain backup file.

Can someone please show me the easiest way to copy all domains / account from old server to new server. I don't want to download everything from old server and upload again.

Thanks
