• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

FTP account management?

If this feature is implemented it should be optional as some of us do not want to allow sub FTP users beyond the one provided per domain.

How is that? What if the customer wants to provide FTP access to only on directory under httpdocs? Empowering the end-user with those privileges, saves everyone time and money.

If you want to be able to do that, then thats your call - however some of us only want to have the user be able to have 1 ftp account per domain.

Yes, you have the option but some of us want to provide the ability to have multiple FTP accounts.

Right ....... so your agreeing with me that it should be an option and not a requirement?

I don't think I disagreed with you at any point. I'm stating that this feature needs to be added and you can certainly control it through the limits, etc.

Enough said, we'll have to wait and see if Parallels will even consider this feature.

Looks like Plesk 9 doesn't have this feature either. I just installed the beta and I haven't found anything there. Good news for you...

Yep, I asked if this would be in Plesk 9:

Plesk includes unlimited FTP users that Plesk calls Webusers. Each account has its own protected directory that can be accessed via FTP. Multiple root FTP users on a single domain is not currently possible on Plesk for Linux. It is possible on Plesk for Windows. However it is something that we are considering in a future release. Structural changes must occur before this will be possible for security reasons.

Blank Page

If on your system a blank page appears, set all files exept the wrapper to "CHMOD 755". And check again.
The FUM tries to detect all users from your local /etc/passwd. And please check (especially on ubuntu) if your sh is linked to the bash. Not to the dash or ksh.

Bye

I understand that FTP account management is part of Plesk 9 for windows but not for Linux.

wrong. Plesk 8.6 for windows supports it as well. Not Linux though.

Yes sometimes Plesk Windows version is out of sync with Linux version. Another example, in Plesk Windows you can have seperate administrators of the control panel, but not so for Plesk Linux.

Well I'm Running Plesk 8.6.0 under CentOS ( 1and1 vps ) and I don't see any ftp management tool ..
Even I've tryed some rpm .. each has failed ..

Please Note I don't have any FTP or DNS manager on this version,
FTP are only available when creating a "new domain", and I prefer doing this stuff manually with SSH & editing the Apache's Conf files
