  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

High Control Panel (httpsd) Memory Usage

My Plesk 8.1 VPS is running four "httpsd" processes, and seems to be using a large amount of memory:

Code:
Shell command:

top -b -n 1 | grap -E "%MEM|httpsd"

PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
 5623 root 15 0 36280 5360 3396 S 0.0 0.1 0:00.03 httpsd
 5627 psaadm 16 0 45236 32m 21m S 0.0 0.5 0:23.89 httpsd
 5950 psaadm 16 0 41504 26m 19m S 0.0 0.4 0:19.68 httpsd
22016 psaadm 16 0 41812 25m 18m S 0.0 0.4 0:19.88 httpsd

Is it normal for Plesk to use this much memory?
Is there anything I can do to make it use less memory?

I would really like to know what the normal memory usage for Plesk is.

Can someone running Plesk 8 please run this shell command and post the results?

Code:
top -b -n 1 | grap -E "%MEM|httpsd"

Oops, that should be grep instead of grap:

Code:
top -b -n 1 | grep -E "%MEM|httpsd"

I rebooted my server and the memory use went way down:

Code:
PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
18033 root 16 0 36280 5360 3396 S 0.0 0.1 0:00.02 httpsd
18037 psaadm 16 0 36280 2500 540 S 0.0 0.0 0:00.00 httpsd

Memory use went back up after I logged in to the control panel, AND logged out again:

Code:
PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
18033 root 16 0 36280 5360 3396 S 0.0 0.1 0:00.02 httpsd
18037 psaadm 16 0 41172 17m 11m S 0.0 0.3 0:00.77 httpsd
19654 psaadm 16 0 42636 20m 12m S 0.0 0.3 0:01.14 httpsd
19700 psaadm 16 0 40864 16m 10m S 0.0 0.3 0:00.67 httpsd

I would also like to know what the normal memory usage is for this...

Mine is a lot higher and I do not understand why, please shed some light on this subject. I can see no one has responded to the original poster.
