/home partition filled up.. upgrade help

dear friends,

i have plesk running 250 domains and my

/home/
folder gettting filled up.
infact my primary HD on which plesk setup is arround 80% and i want to increase my hosting space.

is there any good help we can do upgrade of HD without breaking anything ?

migration is really hard process to do on another server.

please guide.

Is this a server that you have physical access to upgrade?

I don't know what you specs are, but if you had a 40GB HD in your server and were adding a 200GB HD, I would quickly tell you to simply move /home/httpd/vhosts/ to the new drive and create a symlink to it.

However if the situation is that you have a server with 120GB and would like to double the size, then I'm not too sure what to tell you.

You may consider getting a second server and migrating accounts in groups, then switching the DNS in PLESK to forward to your new server and investing some time making a smooth, transparent transition -- unless you can afford downtime.

Additionally, if you do have hands on access to your server, I'm sure you could Ghost a HD to a larger HD with more room also.

It's a tough situation =(

symlink idea is good.

i have 73gb scsi and on that i have plesk and i do have another 73gb extra in which i do keep server backup.

my domains hosted on server having big plans and using higher amount of space not much traffic tho.

now i want to increase my /home/httpd/vhosts space and so as mail location space too.

any easy doing guide will be helpful for me rather to migrate 250+ doamins to another server having big hd space.

You may want to try using symlinks on a client by client basis also.

If you have one client who uses 60GB, you could symlink

/home/httpd/vhosts/thatsite.com

onto the new hard drive...

Symlinks work so beautifully... from the perspective of a home Windows user who loves running a Linux box remotely - it blows me away how symlinks work exactly as they are supposed to ... they are such a lifesaver!
