  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

How do I upgrade plesk?

I do not have any updates available from the plesk updater in the Server Administration control panel.

Do I have to buy plesk 8.3 in order to upgrade to it? or am I grandfathered in since I own 8.1 (which came with my godaddy dedicated server)?

Just download Plesk 8.3 installer from here and run it. This will upgrade your Plesk automatically. Unfortunately Plesk > updater feature is not applied properly in current Plesk version, so this is the only way.

I just tried 8.1.1 -> 8.3 with that installer and at the end it gave an unexpected error and did a roll back. After I rebooted the server after the roll back IIS, MySQL, etc. are working again, the control panel isn't and gives the following error:

Warning: Unknown: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0

Warning: Unknown: Failed opening 'auth.php3' for inclusion (include_path='C:\Program Files\SWsoft\Plesk\admin\plib') in Unknown on line 0

Is there any way for me to see what caused it, such as a log? And is there a way to fix this? Also is .psa backup from 8.1 compatible with 8.2? If I can't get it fixed some other way I'll use the server restore option which will put the OS back but with Plesk 8.2 instead of 8.1.1 which I'm running now.

Annoying that it upgrades fine on the fresh install of 8.1.1 on VMWare and yet fails in the live environment and quite destructive at it.

EDIT: Upgrading from 8.1.1 to 8.2 worked. It gave 2 permission errors but at least I had the option to ignore and continue. Then afterwards from 8.2.0 -> 8.3 worked fine.

I have the same problem with a 8.2 version... I install the patch Plesk 8.2.0.1 for Windows Update 070919.13 and after reboot I have the same problem...

What error are you getting? From 8.1 -> 8.3 was destructive for me but going from 8.1.1 -> 8.2 -> 8.3 worked fine.

I have this problem:

Warning: Unknown: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0

Warning: Unknown: Failed opening 'auth.php3' for inclusion (include_path='C:\Program Files\SWsoft\Plesk\admin\plib') in Unknown on line 0

And I don't upgrade do 8.3 but install the patch for 8.2

Have you tried Plesk > Plesk Reconfigurator? I'd start with Disk Permissions and Folder Permissions as my problem seemed to have been related with these but otherwise you can also try Repair Plesk Installation.

I try with Correct disk permission and Repair Plesk Installation but i have onother problem now...

When i login to plesk i have this error

Notice: Use of undefined constant COMP_DATABASE_NAME - assumed 'COMP_DATABASE_NAME' in c:\progamfiles\swsoft\plesk\admin\plib\class.actionlog.php on line 508

I have this problem to a translate page betwin login page and CP index....

Doesn't look like these 'fixes' are helping much for you. If I were you I'd download 8.3 and hope that this update fixes the problems which you are experiencing with 8.2 now.
