Mailman Uninstall
I'm also looking for instructions on uninstalling mailman... I installed it from the Plesk 8.1.1 interface to see if it would meet our needs.. It seems to be causing instability for our qmail even though it's not used. Now i can't get rid of it...

I found a 7.5 thread http://forum.swsoft.com/showthread.php?postid=111665 that suggests uninstalling mail via the RPM package installer.

I trid the above and got:

[root@as serverurl.com]# rpm -e mailman-2.1.5.1-34.rhel4.5
error: Failed dependencies:
mailman >= 2.1 is needed by (installed) psa-mailman-configurator-8.1.1-cos4.build81070322.16.i586

any ideas?

Thanks!

Try --nodeps

rpm -e --nodeps both packages !

Brilliant!

Thanks Joao!

Is there anything else I will need to delete or edit. (startup scripts?) to prevent future problems or confusion for the system.

Thanks again!

Install mailman after uninstall?

I am experiencing problems with mailman on my server (SuSE 10.1, Plesk 8.6). I cannot set up new mailinglists via Plesk (Unable to create list: listmng failed: listmng: Error: cannot create new list: is Mailman configured properly?).

Is uninstalling mailman on the command line and re-installing it with Plesk

a) a good idea

b) possible?

Or would Plesk run into trouble once mailman got uninstalled via the command line?

Unfortunately, the Control Panel does not provide a Mailman button anymore (nothing found under Server).

First Plesk, then migration

I was able to set up the new mailing list via Plesk after I had removed its predecessor of the same name which I had created via the Mailman pages (http://lists.yourdomain.tld/mailman/create).

I had done so as I was migrating the mailing list from one server to another.

The error message in Plesk was slightly misleading.
