• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

How to upgrade Webalizer

Hi Guys,

Apologies in advance if this is an easy question, but I'm not very familiar with plesk. I'm running Plesk 11.0.9 and have selected Webalizer for my stats. These display as expected, but I've noticed its a really old version of Webalizer. Whats the best way to upgrade to the current version (2.23). I have downloaded the current version and it seems like I should just install it over the top of the existing version (from the limited instructions) but I don't know where to upload the new version to etc.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi abdi,

Thanks again! Its a shame it can't be updated, I'm not sure what to do now. What are other folk doing for a current webstats program? (or at least one that we can update ourselves)

If I was to find a program I liked, what is considered good practice with regards to where it should be installed? I'm running ubuntu.

Again, apologies for the simple questions, but I'm starting fresh with this so want to know the best way to do it.

Cheers

Inter-grating a stats program with plesk might not be an easy task ...And as plesk discourages manual installation and upgrades, I do the same as it might not be worth the time you would spend trying to troubleshoot whatever problems arise therafter.

Plesk also comes with AWstats, have you tried it? Its good too ...

Hi abdi,

I've used awstats before and its pretty good too, but again, the version that comes with plesk is out of date, so can't be updated. I've installed piwik seperately as it seems to be still being developed and meets all of our needs (which are pretty basic) This has been installed as a subdomain to the main website, rather than down in the bowls of the OS. The down side is that I need to inject the tracking code into the pages I want to monitor, but it seems to be working well.

Again, thanks very much for your help :)
