  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Importing from CPanel

New Pleskian
Hello All:

I have been hosting with CPanel/WHM for a number of years.

By default, the POP3/SMTP settings for CPanel are mail.domain.com .

It appears that the defaults for Parallels is domain.com ...

Am I wrong, or do I have to instruct all of my customers on how to change their settings in Outlook to match the new server????

Better .... Can I CHANGE the default server names in Plesk??

Thanks,
Brian

If you need change domain's name, just go to Websites & Domains tab in control panel, click on domain and change name.

Need to change the name of the mail server

I appreciate the reply, but I guess I didn't make my point...

I need to change the name of the MAIL servers from "domain.com" to "mail.domain.com" (Not the name of the domain, but the PREFIX "mail".

I know it works as is, but that makes HUNDREDS of customers have to change their settings in Outlook.

If I can just rename the MAIL server, the transition can be transparent to them.

I'll keep digging, I was just being lazy by asking.

Let me ask the question in a different way....

What do I need to change so that my customers can set their mail clients to look for mail using mail.domain.com instead of just domain.com

You can try to add additional A DNS record for mail.domain.com hostname.
