• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Installing Plesk without DNS and Email

Please can someone advise or point me to documentation with regards to installing plesk without any mail or dns services, as well as removing/disabling all mail/dns on already installed machines.

We have all our mail and dns on large scale servers, and would like to use plesk for all web servers but without any mail and dns on web machines.
IE, install plesk without qmail or mail enable etc, and have all the mail controls (mail services, add email address and so on) hidden...

I've had very little success navigating the parallels.com site as it keeps pointing back to the old swsoft.com links which in turn redirects everything back to parallels.com and to a 404. Go figure.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure you can do this.

The best solution would be to install Plesk as normal, then simply turn off email for the domains, and also switch of DNS.

I'm not sure how you'd disable the mail controls though. Maybe set maximum mailboxes to 0?

Or maybe exactly what you want can be done after all -- I'm sure someone who knows will pipe up soon enough and say so :)

In my searching around the parallels.com site, I discovered Plesk Expand, which suggests it is possible to do exactly what I am wanting. Take a look at the pretty little diagram on the main page of Plesk Expand

I didn't think of Expand. I'm not sure what changes it might make to plesk to disable the necessary buttons though.

Hi,

checked a bit this one and I don't see how you can uninstall these services.

You could disable it with group operations from plesk, both of them.
