  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

IP does not resolve to Domain name

I am new to all this and I have been reading alot about this ****.

I have my website uploaded to 72.167.46.222 and it just resolves to the main hosting page. The URL http://www.sharonschambernetwork.com does same exact thing.

In the instructions is states that the domain name should show up on the default page at the least.

I am wondering if me using the same IP address my server is causing any issues. I have it set to exclusive and the domain is set as the default to the IP.

Is there something that I missed in the set up to make it so that the IP resolves to the index.html that is in the /httpdocs folder.

Im so lost and im bleeding money by the day.

thank you in advance to any help.

P.S. I am just learning hot to use SSH and I really dont understand it just yet.

Well, for a start there seems to be a problem with the DNS records for your domain.

I've not looked into it in detail, but from the results you get from www.dnsstuff.com it looks like you have an NS record of "ns.sharonschambernetwork.com" in the DNS records for the domain (but you should not have), but on the other hand you do not have ns1. and ns2. and you should have.

On the other hand the A record for the website looks OK so we should see a website as long as it is correctly configured in Plesk - but I'm not sure that it is.

For example if you go to http://72.167.46.222/ we see the server default page again, which says: "If you see this page it means:
1. hosting for this domain is not configured
or
2. there's no such domain registered in Plesk"

There's no DNS involved here so something has to be wrong.

But I'm sure someone else will have some better suggestions for you -- I'm just guessing and everything I say could be totally wrong.

Faris.

I checked it with my domain host and the name server is ns1 and ns2.

Yes I agree that the ip address taking me there is just weird. The website shows up just fine when I go in to plesk and view it in the "site preview" but the IP that is is uploaded under doesn't bring it up.

Some thing is very wrong.

Thank you and I would appreciate any more help.

Post your DNS records for this domain from your Plesk control panel please.

The only thing missing in your DNS Settings is:

sharonschambernetwork.com NS ns1.sharonschambernetwork.com
sharonschambernetwork.com NS ns2.sharonschambernetwork.com

using nslookup, I find both NS1 and NS2 point to your ip address.

Have you stopped then started ( not just restarted ) Web Services in the control panel or via SSH since creating this domain in Plesk? On occasion, I have had to do this twice more after creating the domain in Plesk.

No, I mean in the DNS records for the domain itself. remove ns. and insert ns1. and ns2. as NS records (like jdwick says).

Also do everything else he says :) He knows his stuff. You should not need to restart apache, but as he says sometimes you have to more than once.

I do not know if this is contributing to your problem, but you should not have a ns.sharonshambernetwork.com entry in your Plesk dns settings as this setting is NOT registered with GoDaddy/WildWestDomains/ORS.

I know this is a basic question but when you open the control panel and click on <DOMAINS>, is there a "green" check mark, "green" right arrow and "blue" VR symbol shown beside the domain name? The problem almost certainly has to be in the Plesk setup of the domain. Just want to make sure that you haven't just overlooked the domain being disabled.

As a last resort, I would remove the domain hosting from Plesk, then add it back again.

Yes I have checked that many times and all three of the items are running just fine.

As a last resort, I would remove the domain hosting from Plesk, then add it back again.

I have added and removed the domain quite a few times and have had the same issue.

I guess im just going to have to contact Godaddy and yell a bit. Something is wrong with the server.

Sounds like contacting GoDaddy is a must at this point. All of the settings appear to be correct. Sorry I couldn't help.

Were you able to get this resovled? I am curious as to the fix.

Ping and Traceroute

[root@xxx ~]# ping sharonschambernetwork.com
ping: unknown host sharonschambernetwork.com
[root@xxx ~]# traceroute sharonschambernetwork.com
traceroute: unknown host sharonschambernetwork.com

seems as though your DNS is misconfigured somewhere. B/C if you do a traceroute on your i.p it works to the following hop: 20 ip-72-167-46-222.ip.secureserver.net (72.167.46.222) 82.686 ms 84.318 ms 81.958 ms

which is located at godaddy.com. double check your settings at godaddy.com to make sure they are enabled.
