• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Every once in awhile, I see my web server CPU spike and remain at 100% for 5 or 10 minutes. It goes without saying that it slows down all my websites.

When I look at the running processes, the 1 that I see at the top (if sorted by CPU) is w3wp.exe and the User Name is IWPD_47(username999). I have a spreadsheet of all my user logins and username999 is for a website that has been turned off. This is not the first time I have seen this process running with that username.

Is this something running by Plesk? Is there any way I can check to see what it is doing?

I eventually deleted the disabled website. Right now, I do not have any disabled websites, and I do not use shared SSL on any of my websites. However, I still have the problem.

Just the other day, I tried to clear it by restarting IIS. Not something I like to do, but everythign was running really slow and I didn't know what else to do. When I restarted IIS, it basically crashed and I had to reboot the server. I asked my network guy if he had any idea and he said the culprit was a a plesk module:

D:\Program Files\SWsoft\Plesk\isapi\sitepreview.dll

We don't give the Plesk login to our clients. We usually delete the virtual directory in IIS for site preview. Could this possibly be causing the problem? Is there a better way to disable or delete sitepreview from all our websites? Even if I have to turn it off on each website, I'll do it if it fixes this problem once and for all.

Hi,

Check the properties of each of your application pool. Select the identity tab and verify if any of the application
pools use IWPD_47(username999) as the user.

If so find out the website/websites using this application pool and try stopping the website as well as the application pool.
