• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Mail problems

John Fleming

Basic Pleskian
Hi all,

I have a problem that has cropped up and I am not sure how to fix it.

I have a domain hosted in Plesk, and the client has setup their own mail server, and so I have configured the MX in Plesk to point to the new server and its working. However, when I try to send him mail I get the following error.

Remote host said: 553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts; no valid cert for gatewaying (#5.7.1)

To give you an idea on the infrastructure, this is how it is setup. (example IPs only)

Plesk Server 1.2.3.4
Mail server is also 1.2.3.4 -- I use this to send via Authenticated SMTP

Customers new mail server 5.6.7.8

When I try to send mail, my server (1.2.3.4) bounces back with that above error. I have also switched off mail services for that domain.

What am I missing??

Cheers
John

# is that domain listed in /var/qmail/control/rcpthosts ?
# did you try running mcheck to reset qmail settings?

Edit the file

Code:
vim /var/qmail/control/virtualdomains

In it delete the domain name that you don't host mail on that plesk server
