• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

manual migration?

Is there a way to manually migrate accounts from cPanel to Plesk? If so, what are the steps?

I see why you're asking the question. I can't migrate some of the cPanel accounts to Plesk because PMM seems to never finish. So I need to know if there is a different way to do the migration.

You could select accounts you want to migrate. Please reduce the number of selected accounts/domains and migrate them one by one.

You could make the migration in import mode also. It usable if you could not connect via ssh, or want to have another way to transfer file content.

Thanks.

I've tried migrating accounts one by one but that doesn't work. What's the import mode? How is it used when moving from cpanel to plesk?

The import mode allows you to move migration dump files for restore manually and then run restore.

Unfortunately, if could not create dump, it does not help you.

As i understand you migrate a big account with large amout of domains?

What log file says? is there is progress in migration?

Yes, only one domain about 3-4GB of disk being consumed. The logs say nothing and the migration progress is stuck on the retrieving data from host portion.

answer

More than likely your host ISP is not providing you with enough bandwidth to move 3-4 gb of data at one time. So what is happening is you are being "throttled" by the ISP and the migration manager is chokeing and then never finishing.

regards

Chris

Nope, I'm my own ISP with a full 10Mbps commit at 95% besides the servers are on the same LAN, which is gig enabled and since I'm doing my own networking I can tell you there is no throttling or QOS in place.

here is what I get when I try to run PleskX.pl:

root@gear-l23 [/plesk]# ./PleskX.pl --dump-accounts=pckzzmrc --verbosity=5
Died at AgentConfig.pm line 22.

here is the error I'm running to:

04:35:32 INFO Executing bundle producer: '/bin/tar -f - -c -T '/tmp/file859aak'' in /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/mailman/archives/private/02list_domain.com.mbox
Unable to create output file '/plesk///usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/mailman/archives/private/02list_domain.com.mbox/maillist_02list_domain.com@domain.com': No such file or directory at Storage/Splitter.pm line 74.

gzip: stdout: Broken pipe

What command do you run?

use сPanel.pl --help
to view available commands.

use
сPanel.pl --dump-accounts=account1,account2
to dump select accounts
сPanel.pl --dump-domains=domain1,domain2
to dump select domains

The dump placed in the same directory where cPanel9.pl placed.

./cPanel9.pl --dump-accounts=pckzzmrc --verbosity=5

As you can see things are working but it seems to fails with the mailing list information.

Looks like a problem with maillist content migration. But in this case the PMM should report an error at his page, but do not stay in "never finish".

Please try run

replace archDir/maillist_ dumpDir/maillist_ -- cPanel9.pl

and run migration again. Please save original cPanel9.pl
