• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

mchk destroyed /var/qmail/control/rcpthosts and virtualdomains

Regular Pleskian
After upgrading from Plesk 8.1 to 8.3 we got the problem of slow outgoing mail described by many others (but no definitive solution provided, thanks!) and tried some of the many suggestions posted, including running /usr/local/psa/admin/bin/mchk --with-spam .

The only thing this did was removing all content of rcpthosts and virtualhosts.

Only solution was to restore a backup from before the upgrade.

I get more and more the feeling that Plesk and especially qmail is a card house. Any little glitch and the whole thing falls apart!

Hi
This can happen only if the mail service for the domains was disabled.

I have never met the similar issue before. mchk compares the data from the Plesk database and
if the domain has the mail service enabled it adds the domain name in rcpthosts and virtualdomains files.

Well it just happened to us too.

We ran mchk and it totally destroyed both the rcpthosts and virtualdomains.

As of our, all our mail is down.

Word of warning to future users... DO NOT RUN THIS!
