  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

So, I've been trying to figure out the migration plans for us to move 700+ domains to plesk. So far, no real success but I'm not one bit surprised since I set my expectations way low :)

Moving on... I get the following error during the migration: Error: Unable to deploy the migrated objects: Unable to run migrmng: Cannot restore dump. [Contains non LDH characters]

The migration log displays the following:

Any suggestions?

Hello!

It was one time when we had similar error (Cannot restore dump. [Contains non LDH characters]) ... In that case we find non-UTF8 character inside dump file, after we deleted this character the process of restoring continued well.

we should research these files
%PLESK_INSTALL_DIR%\PMM\Store\Main\PleskDump\objects\structure.tgz
%PLESK_INSTALL_DIR%\PMM\Store\Main\PleskDump\objects\structure.xml
Actually, you will found only one of them (structure.tgz is zipped structure.xml)

You might send log and dump files to us and we will research them or give us access to yours servers.

After you have found errors (non UTF-characters) in structure.xml and have fixed its, you could run

%PLESK_INSTALL_DIR%\admin\bin\mirgmng.exe --restore

to restore this dump manually.

Please, write a private message, if you still have the problem.

Thank you.

How can I find the non-UTF8 character? Looking at the XML file, I see a lot of different characters and values, knowing what to look for might be helpful.

Should I submit a support ticket?

You could find non-UTF characres using special editors (but not all can do it). Usually these symbols will look strange.

You could send this file to me (please write private message), i will investigate it and reply with corrected file.

You could submit a support ticket also.

Thank you.

I couldn't PM you the content because the content is too many. Should I submit the ticket?

Hello,

I have same problem, but on structure.xml not have special characters, only password of old server have ? simbol, its possible this are a problem?

Hello! The problem was with the migration of DNS record's of TXT types.

Such records was not migrated correctly to Plesk and restore had been failed with error.

Thanks.

Thanks for sugestion ;)

I try to remove txt entry of spf, but problem persist.

Have another special configuration causing this problem?

Thanks

Could you send us log file or post hire its part with error message and some lines before it?

(please note, log file contains some private data).

Hi,

I found problem, I need to remove all spf configurations on old server (with helm), and now migrate.

The migration from helm is very slow, I see on filemon, all email mesages is copied one by one, without compress, very slowing... I sugest of plesk migration manager zip messages to make migration more fast

Thanks

Hello,

Last question, its possible make migrations from plesk manually, for exempla, generate backup on old server with command line, I already of its possible restore manuall after all files is copied to new server on pasta nativedump

Thanks

Hello!

Could you tell do you migrate from helm or from plesk and where you migrate to? What the reason to use command line? (it is more complex way than standard GUI).

Thanks.

Sorry, i skip your last post.

spf - it is the TXT record by nature. Unfortunately I do not point to this in my post.

PMM has already zip messages and i am not sure that it is help you to speed up migration process (by idea zipping is slow down the process ). And command line is not solve this problem (but it is very interesting to know what is slow down backup). The mail messages migration is file-oriented process anyway.

If you do not need migrate mail messages (or want to migrate it later), you could try to use next scenario:

Stop Plesk migration agent (remote computer)
Open Plesk migration agent folder (remote computer) and delete (change extension) for all files by mask
"C:\Program Files\SWsoft\Plesk Migrator Agent\Platforms\MailMsgMigrator\*mailsrvprovider.dll" .

I am not sure, but it is should make Plesk migration agent skip mail messages backup with error messages in the log file. Please try this on small migration.
You could migrate mail messages later using mail messages migration after helm migration (reinstalling Plesk Migration agent on remote host).

Thanks.
