  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

Hi,
i need to migrate all sites form the old server to a new server.

The last time i have used the migration manager from the Plesk Control Panel but we have wait 6 hours befor the end of the process.
The migration has work fine but it was to Slow.
How can i do it faster?

Thanks

To analyze this we should know such answers:

How long a backup phase have worked?
How long a restore phase have worked?
How many domains/account/mailnames/webusers/maillist/databases do you migrate?
What is the size of the backup (content), ( hosting, mail, databases )?

You could migrate by one accounts/domain. I am not sure that this will be faster, bu you could move your data by parts.

I have not see when the Migration finish to make the bakup and start the Restore.
In this server i have:
212 domains
10 clients
621 Mailnames
0 MailingList
1 Web User
73 Mysql's databases

Total Size of Backup 5,3Gb.

Is better make a backup in the old server and Restore in a New Server?

Thank you for information.

The migration will migrate only client/domain settings. And it has GUI. It move dump files using ssh (which can be slow on the large data)

The backup/restore amke the same, bu can restore a server settings also, and have no any GUI.

The work speed of migration and backup/restore is the same excluding the transport (move dump) expenses.

Ok, Thanks for the answer.
In the last migration i has a problem with the Db Charset.
All the old Db Mysql has Latin_swedish but after the migration has Utf8.
How can resolve this problem in a future migration?

Thanks

The Plesk by default creates its database in utf8 :(.

The migration will be ok in 8.6, but the database will have utf8 charset after migration.

How can i change the default Charset? Maybe by restore the Backup?
Thanks for your answer

I have used the migration manager for over 5,000 clients and domains and never had any issues with it unless a user had a database on a centralized database server (non local) then it gave a few error messages but there really was no error. I would suggest trying that first becuase its easier.

I am using Plesk Migration Manager, I am able to migrate Domain/FTP/DB/Client, But not Web-site Data,

Pls Help me.. I try to find the problem.. But no succes till this time.

Thanks in Advance for your Time and Support.

Best Regards
Tarun

Migration Plesk/Linux 8.6 to same: no web sites migration

Same problem here: we migrated from one Plesk/Linux 8.6 on Ubuntu to another but the web site data was not migrated.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Christian

Looks like you sourse server has a problem with domain Administrator Permission`s.

Please, change at page Domains -> Select Domain -> Domain Administrator -> Permissions: User interface option (for each domain that has not migrated ).

Alternatively you could use migration in import mode, modify dump created and then migrate.

Thanks.
