  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Migration issue - 9.3 -> 10.2

Netzhaus

New Pleskian
Hello,

we have a Plesk 9.3 (Ubuntu 8.04) Server which we want to migrate to a Plesk 10.2 (Ubuntu 10.04).
On the source Plesk we have an reseller account which holds a lot of domains and each domain has an domain-adminstrator account.
When we migrate these domains, the domain-administrators are created and set inactive (for some good reasons, because they can see all domains of the overlaying reseller when activated.).
As we need the domain-administrators for our customers to administrate their domains we converted the domain-adminstrators into customer accounts on the source (Plesk 9.3). When we try to migrate such a customer the migration ends up with an error. The customer is created at the destination, but nothing more (no domain, hosting etc.).
Here the error message(s) from the displayed protocol:

Warning: user "hallo@testbirne.local"

Object has been excluded from restore (e9c7e985-996d-4c06-8340-de29ca5408d6)

Error:

Failed deployment of client testbirne.local

Error:

Execution of /opt/psa/admin/plib/api-cli/client.php --create testbirne.local -name testbirne.local -notify false -passwd '' -creation-date 2011-05-10 -guid 94b9b67f-e2c2-4910-a5da-45ba5680b667 -vendor-guid 3ed5b99c-fbdd-4cb2-a937-4c2fdc37efb4 -owner admin failed with return code 3.
Stderr is
SQLSTATE[23000]: Integrity constraint violation: 1062 Duplicate entry 'testbirne.local' for key 'login'

("testbirne.local" ist the name of the domain and the loginname of the domain-administrator, as Plesk always uses the domainname as login for the admin. "hallo@testbirne.local" is an e-mail-account of the domain. This error (or warning) is maybe subsequent to the other error(s).)

The destination server is empty, so it should be impossible that there is an duplicate entry.

As a second option, we tried to migrate a customer with some domains and afterwards we used the option "apply transition scheme" to transform the customer to a reseller and the domain-administrators of the domains should be transformed to customers.
The migration works without problems and the customer ist transformed to a reseller, but the domain-administrators were not transformed to customers.
No error was displayed.

Has anyone a hint for us to get these domain-administrator accounts transformed/migrated?

Matthias from netzhaus

Update

I set up a Plesk 9.5.4 (last available 9.x Version with the Ubuntu 10.04 installer parallels_installer_v3.7.1_build101014.17_os_Ubuntu_10.04_x86_64)

The first method now works.
First converted the domain-administrators into customers and then migrated them to the Plesk 10 server.
Customer and domain were created without error.

The second way still does not work.
When the customer is transformed to a reseller, but the domain-admin did not become a customer.

But with one method working it will be enough.
The only thing is, that i will have to upgrade to 9.5.4 before i can migrate.
I hope it will work.
