  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Moving site using backup/restore... Should work, right?

I have two Plesk Windows servers... One is Plesk 8.1, the other 8.2. I am trying to move a site off the 8.1 box and onto the 8.2 box by backing up using Plesk backup on the 8.1 box, moving the backup file to an FTP server, then pulling it off the FTP and onto my 8.2 box...

I create the domain on my 8.2 box, then run restore. I run restore, and it seems to go without a hitch. My MySQL database moves just fine... But NONE of the files or directories in my old website appear to make it over into the new site. I just get the default Plesk page and nothing else.

I'm just using this to try and move a site... And maybe there is a better way, but I now have concerns for what will happen if I need to restore a website FOR REAL!

Am I doing something wrong?

...Answering my own question...

This works... BUT...

The backup will only replace what ISN'T there. In other words...

Before I started, I had already created my domain and Vhosts, and consequently the restore skipped that part, and all the files and directories within...

If instead, I do a restore from a completely clean sheet of paper, then it replaces the ENTIRE site... directories, files, and all.

is this true for all versions of plesk restores etc..?

we had been trying to restore domain (existing on same server) as some of code files got missing over
however restore actually didnt change anything over in httpdocs

since site code was quite big in size we ddint want to remove httpdocs or c:\inetpub\vhosts\domain.com completeY?

hat is workwround in such situations can any file be modified to let psa know what to do?
