Pages open slowwwwwwly

Hello,

After I installed a Fresh copy of Plesk 8.1 on my Windows Server 2003SDT R2 the domains open really slow. Even the default holding page after domain is created takes about 25 30 sec to open.

Any idea?

ok, I figured it out what was slowing down the pages. It is the News Page that opens on each page after domain is created. Just open the port 8880 for the Java script for the news and it will work just fine.

Let me know if this helped.

By the way sshigin, the desktop functionality is a totally wrong and bad idea. It only slows down everything. You should add a function in to the admin area to have the desktop disabled for each individual user.

And remove the advertising links, it is a real pain.... or make it only visible to the admins not for the users.

Regards

Advertising to our customers through this desktop is a total insult to us as Plesk customers and supporters. Plesk is a backend tool. Advertising to admins is almost acceptable but never to our end users.

Look in this forum Henry and you will find out how to at least hide the desktop news by altering the style sheets.

I too have very slow loading interface problems but think it goes beyond the port issue as my port is open. Nice of Plesk to advise upgrader's of this additional port requiremet during at least the install. Is it that hard to add a note to open a port?

I really am trying to like Plesk for a year now. Issues like this make it very difficult though.

this issue with slowing down will be fixed in the next plesk (sub)version which is planned in march/april.

Well that's awesome. Now I have to wait for 4 months to have a control panel that doesn't take 40 seconds for every page load.

Way to go SWSoft! It is so comforting to know you guys are on top of these problems right away.

4 months to fix a bug ?????????????????????????????

In 4 months my company will be dead

What is going on with SWSOFT ??????????????

Exactly. I am done with this company. I tried it out for a year and now my license is up. Come the 24th bye bye swsoft!

PS I bet they'll cut my license short too like the last time the screwed it up.

Hi,

You can try to modify the skeletons' index.html and remove the extra stuff and this will improve the default page start-up.

Guys, stick to the version 7.6.1 for now. It is much faster and has all the features that your customer might want.

Let's wait another year or so to upgrade to the new version. That's my opinion.

Regards

I hear you Henry, but wating months for updates to really be updates is rediculous.

IG0R/DUKom2, I said "3 sec". Is it big problem? If there is issue in your server and slowing down more then 10 sec then this is trouble and you should address SWsoft support or provide here more information about your hardware and software environment.

Ask tech support for help on a problem. Ha that's funny. I have solved almost every plesk issue on my own without customer support because they can never put their finger on whats wrong and the second they run out of answers I don't hear anything from them and then I'm told to purchase support. It is totally rediculous.

The slow interface as far as I can tell is due to PLesk's interaction with MSSQL server, if you are running the psa on it. I am a .net developer so I need 2.0 and dotnetnuke 4+ and MSSQL running for customers. Plesk runs rediculously slow in general when using MSSQL. This has to be a known issue and support of the psa running mssql should not have been advertised or even an option if it was buggy.

I don't think I'll be with plesk after december anyway. I am already switching my other servers to dotnetpanel. They answer questions right away and have way better pricing and support.

I actually have a cold fusion backend that I programed that smashes plesk on speed and most its features, but CF is pricey for multiple servers, so we tried to look elsewhere.

Unfortunately Plesk was a big dissapointment to many of my customers. I will admit that when plesk works it's a great app. It is just to unstable and easily screwed up, mainly because I think it tries to take too much control of the apps it manages and doesn't keep up enough with the new versions of those apps.

Sorry to rant to everyone, but I think voicing these things help the community and maybe will help swsoft to see the frustration of many of their customers. They are getting a very very bad name in amongst the admins I work with. Maybe one day when SWSoft releases a properly running app that was beta tested with real world admins I will return, I just can't take anymore chances with my company, my customers, and most of all my livelyhood.

I can't believe how slow Plesk 8.0 is .. Everything on the server is slow.

This was a fresh install a 8.0. The control panel is very slow, webmail is slow - and sites are slow.

I have my customers complaining and not sure what to do. I disabled TomCat, Firewall and the antivirus. There isn't much more to shutdown.

Any help would be great - I am not sure what to do next. I even added more memory - HA that didn't work either.

By the way I have installed this on a windows VPS - ( I am using VMWARE) and it is on a dual 3.4 GHZ and I allocated 1.5GB of Memory.

HELP!

Thanks,
Adam

The Plesk 8.1 control panel on our Windows 2003 box runs way too slow. It takes users 5-10 seconds to reach the desktop after logging in, 2-3 seconds to navigate page to page, etc. Does everyone's installation run this slow?

Gee that was faster then what I was getting.

I was waiting up to 5-10 minutes just to get to desktop and about 1-2 minutes for the login screen.

I did however get Plesk to look at my server and they fixed something - because it is much quicker now!

Ask them for help - good luck they may request you to have a support plan :)

Thanks,
Adam
