Plesk 8.3.0 yum repository

Plesk 8.3.0 is now available in the Atomic archive for RHEL, CentOS and Fedora. You can add the atomic and plesk channels with the updated atomic installer, by executing the following as root:

wget -q -O - http://www.atomicorp.com/installers/atomic |sh

The atomic installer will additionally install yum on VPS's, and convert RHEL systems to CentOS if you have an expired source for updates.

I can't update my system with Centos 4 (update by yum completely) and with atomic repos to plesk 8.3

Hence the reason I do this through yum, I couldnt upgrade to 8.3 on a C4.6 box using the autoinstaller either.

Try running the atomic installer, add the plesk repo when it prompts you and run:
yum update

That should be it!

I have an interesting problem.
I can't install plesk through the autoinstall, because i must use mysql 5
But i can do it through the yum command. The problem is that the service does not start :S
Any help will be apreciated

So are you saying you can install it through yum? My environments are nearly identical, CentOS 4.6 + mysql 5.0.51/php 5.2.5. All I had to do was run "yum update" to go from 8.1.1 to 8.3.0

art, what do you know abt SwSoft strategy? can you tell us if they are going to ignore Linux from now on? I can see only improvements for Windows Plataform on this last release...

I would hate to migrate my servers to windows... yaak! no way!

don't forget to backup your data before start.

i found why my service don't start, the database structure is for plesk 8.2.1, is there any sql script i can use to migrate the database ?

I don't know about the sw-soft strategy. But I don't think Plesk on linux is dead, one of the strengths of the design is that it is open enough to allow 3rd parties to do some pretty interesting stuff with it. Something that I don't think you'll ever be able to do on a closed source platform.

I think a better question is what is it that you see on windows plesk that you don't see on Linux?

Usually, it means that postinstall scripts weren't successfully completed. I would say that rmp -e in such case is a bad idea coz you can encounter unpleasant consequences during next upgrade/update.

Usually, support recommend downloading distributive and perform upgrade manually.

Delete the active version is not a good idea, you better remove 8.3.0:
rpm -e psa-8.3.0-cos4.build83071218.20 --nodeps
After doing that you can run the upgrade. This work fine for me.
