• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Plesk is not supported on CentOS 5 yet. I'd just wait for a version that supports CentOS 5.

Somebody knows when the support for CentOS 5 will be available?

There's no date set, but there's some talking about Plesk 8.2 which would come end june with possible RHEL/CentOS 5 support :)

But ... nothing official.

RPM install, Fedora Core 6 will install on the 64 bit side.

But, as said above, 8.2 will support RHEL 5 and CentOS 5 so you are probably better off to wait.

Looking forward to Centos 5 and Plesk. I was hoping it wouldn't take to long for a compatible upgrade package to come out. Now I just have to hope its stable :)

I was planning a server upgrade for various packages(and maybe hardware) and this would let me do it all in one fell swoop

How were people's experiences with the backup and migration packages/path from 754 to 8.x ?

The Migration Manager works fine for moving from 7.5.4 to 8.x, but the backup/restore tools were no succes when I tested that. The tools and backup format changed when 8.x was introduced. A later version (8.1.something?) introduced a tool that supposedly is able to convert a 7.5.4 backup into something you can restore on Plesk 8, but that didn't work when I tried it.

Thanks for the info. Glad to hear that at least the Migration manager has a chance of working. I had tried the Backup util and had problems with it. Unfortunately it would do the backup(at least according to the msgs, never tried reloading) but would not reactivate the site when the backup was complete.

Since I am thinking of upgrading my box at the same time I go to Centos 5, migration was the preferred tool.

I don't think it will be long before a version of Plesk is released that supports CentOS 5.
