• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Plesk does not start: mysql service not installed even if it is running

New Pleskian
Hi! This morning we decided to upgrade from parallel 11.0.09 to 11.5.30. We used the autoinstaller on our plesk panel, but there was this error:

***** problem report *****
ERROR while trying to detect MySQL service name
Check the error reason(see log file: /tmp/plesk_11.5.30_installation.log), fix and try again

After some package installation (psa-atmail and plesk-roundcube) the installed plesk has broken.

#/etc/init.d/psa start
Starting xinetd service... done
Starting mysql service... not installed
Starting bind9 service... done
Starting postgresql service... not installed
Starting psa-spamassassin service... not installed
Plesk: Starting Mail Server... already started
Starting psa... failed
Starting drwebd service... failed

Why plesk doesn't find MySQL?
We have two version of mysql: 5.1 and 5.5. Each one has a multi-server configuration.
Maybe plesk looks for "mysqld" but our multi-server daemon are named differently: mysql51 and mysql55.

Is there a way to change the plesk mysql service name?

Thank you very much.
