postfix warning message??

I am getting this warning in my postfix logs.

warning: dict_nis_init: NIS domain name not set - NIS lookups disabled

What does that mean, how can i adjust to correct this problem?

As the workaround try to comment the nis records in postconf

I cannot open this file to edit. what software used to open this, tried DW, GoLive, Notepad++. ???

opened with mc, there is nothing there to edit or comment. just some reference to the amd processor.
