Primary & Secondary DNS on a single server - is there a solution?

Hi,

I wonder if there is a solution to maintain both Primary & Secondary DNS server both on a single machine so I could use

ns1.domain.com
ns2.domain.com

as nameservers for all domains set up in Plesk.

I have an IP block and a single IP in a different subnet if it's required.

Thank you.

Secondary DNS

To implement a secondary dns server it needs to have another ip address. Some scans will complain that it is in the same subnet or such, but, it will still work. Personally I am running an external service for my DNS. http://www.everydns.net/ is one such service and you can have it replicate your primary DNS server and also http://www.xname.org/ is a free service also. I run my server behind NAT so for some reason they can't replicate DNS through my router like they could when connected directly. But they can access a program called Simple DNS Plus which is a windows XP based dns server. I have it as a secondary to my Plesk DNS server and the replicating DNS servers on the internet I have an account with replicate from that. Makes changes happen quite quickly between the 6 or 7 DNS servers they have throughout the world. Anyhow.. That is what I have done. Maybe it will help you.
