• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Question Problem with SMTP connection

Importise

New Pleskian
Hello,

I have a problem with the connection to the SMTP Server. On my computer I tried it with Outlook and Thunderbird, but it didn't work. I also tried it with my smartphone and it worked. On my smartphone I used Outlook. Why does Outlook work on my smartphone but not on my computer?

Does someone have an idea what the problem could be?

Here is my postfix config:

Code:
# See /usr/share/postfix/main.cf.dist for a commented, more complete version

# Debian specific: Specifying a file name will cause the first
# line of that file to be used as the name. The Debian default
# is /etc/mailname.
#myorigin = /etc/mailname

Hi,

after I tried to log in I had this in my log file.
Code:
Dec 20 13:44:17 tr01 dovecot: imap-login: Login: user=<myname@hereismydomain.de>, method=DIGEST-MD5, rip=127.0.0.1, lip=127.0.0.1, mpid=13056, secured, session=<F1yKBe5DTKx/AAAB>
Dec 20 13:44:17 tr01 dovecot: service=imap, user=myname@hereismydomain.de, ip=[127.0.0.1]. Logged out rcvd=90, sent=902
Dec 20 13:44:20 tr01 dovecot: imap-login: Aborted login (no auth attempts in 0 secs): user=<>, rip=87.XXX.XXX.XXX, lip=178.XXX.XXX.XXX, session=<x8uxBe5DgTVXh3Uj>
Dec 20 13:44:20 tr01 dovecot: imap-login: Aborted login (no auth attempts in 0 secs): user=<>, rip=87.XXX.XXX.XXX, lip=178.XXX.XXX.XXX, session=<r9+xBe5DgjVXh3Uj>

The log entries describe two different things. The first two lines show a login/logout via an IMAP webmail client, e.g. Horde, roundcube or another, individually installed client on the host. The second two lines describe a login attempt from an external client, maybe your Outlook. The error message in that is clearly shown with "no auth attempts", meaning that your client software did not attempt to transmit authentication data to login. This is most likely a problem of the Outlook client, a security software or a virus on your local PC that prohibits transmission of authentication data than a problem with the mail server on your host. Your host does not receive the login credentials. You will need to research the issue on your local PC, not on the host.
