  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

qmail problem: mails not received

Hello,

I have a problem with qmail on my plesk system, maybe somone can help!

Usually the mails are working. But sometimes I don't get messages (which have been sent from an outside server without errors). Today there was a really strange thing:
A message from outside was sent to two mailboxes on my system: a@example.com and b@example.org. The mail was received on the first mailbox but not on the second! The same with the logs: there are entries showing that the mail was delivered to the first mailbox but not to the second! The second message did not show up in any form.

Does anybody have an idea what was going wrong? I have this problem in about <1% of all mails, so it's not reproducible but still a big problem for me!

There is no virus or spam filter enabled, but I use a MAPS zone from spamhaus.org.

Thank you!
Peter

I also have this problem, itermitant email delivery .. and have surfed around trying to find a resolution to the issue.

.. I have taken off all dns lookups like MAPS and SPF

I have tried editing /etc/xinetd.d/smtp_psa and adding -Rt0, restarting xinetd

I have tried changing /etc/drweb/drweb_qmail.conf 'LicenseLimit = reject' to 'LicenseLimit = pass'

Servers are not under any heavy load, and there's nothing in blacklists (in case this was causing a slow-down) .. I'm stumped.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this welcome! 8-}

I have a similar problem. Mail sent to an outside server to an address that is a group (redirecting to 3 addresses) cant be pulled from the server but is deliverd and is visible in webmail.

On the other hand, mail sent from an internal address on the server is sent to the group email address and delivered and able to be pulled from the server.

It's honeslty driving me nuts. I have no idea why that is.

Here is what I know:
- If I send mail to groupName@mydomain.com from an EXTERNAL domain (not one of the 3 on the server) and check my mail from my mail application on my computer with POP settings. I will not get the mail.
- If I send mail to groupName@ mydomain.com from an INTERNAL domain (one of the domains on the server) and check my mail from my mail application on my computer with POP settings. I can receive the mail.
- No matter if I send an email from an INTERNAL or EXTERNAL domain the mail is always available on via Webmail. (That is really weird!)

Anyone know whats up?

Tail your maillog file and grep for the address you're sending to, make sure the mail is delivered to the local Maildir each time with no errors, when sending locally and externally. Paste the results up here and maybe I could help. I agree thats weird, maybe the firewall service is blocking the external POP/IMAP connection.

You might also want to make sure all IP's bound to the box are in the whitelist for the SMTP server as well as 127.0.0.1/32.

Thx
James

What do your logs say? Are you sending one email addressed to both boxes or one email to each individually? Maybe theres an alias for b pointing to a by mistake? Who knows I've seen weirder things. Either way if an email comes in for a b and c, all should show up in the logs when qmail-local delivers them to the individual maildirs, which should be in the logs.

Thx

It happend with one single mail, having two recipients. And as I already explained, one lines for the first recipient are in the logs!
However, it seems that the mails are now more reliable. At least I haven't heard any complaints in the last weeks...

My problem seemed to resolve after I changed the DNS from 1and1s server to my servers DNS. not sure what the reason was, but its working. thanks for the help.

Hi,
I have a personal server with a dynamic IP and i have the same problem.
How to resolve it?
Thx

We are having similar problems. An email was sent from an external domain to

1@domain.com
and
2@domain.com
and only 1@domain.com received the message and not 2@domain.com
