• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Reboot failures

Jonno

New Pleskian
I'm on
CentOS 6.3 (Final)
Panel version 11.0.9 Update #15
1&1 dedicated server.

I have migrated some data from an old server, set up SSL certs, pretty much ready to go except...

If I reboot from Plesk or command line the server fails to restart.

I can reboot using the 1&1 recovery tool to 'reboot the normal system'. That always works.

What does the recovery tool do differently?

Any suggestions?

What do you mean exactly "server fails to restart"? How this issue can be reproduced?

It shuts down, ceases to be running, becomes bereft of life, it rests in peace, behaves in much the same fashion as a dead parrot.

The 1&1 recovery tool then boots the machine as normal, awakens the beast, breathes life into the thing, causes it to be on.

I have since found that this is probably related to the Watchdog 2.03 issue, the problem does not occur when Watchdog is disabled.
