  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

removing "home"-button from navigation-bar?

KurtCardozo

New Pleskian
Hello,

i dont need a "home"-button in the navigation-bar, so i want to make it invisible in the navigation. if i make the "home" a hidden page it seems to work as i want. but what effect does it have?
is the hidden page function just a matter of navigation-design or will a hidden page also be invisible for search engines?

my second question is:
when i publish my site, lets say "www.mysite.com", and then open it in the browser, then it automatically redirects to www.mysite.com/home/ , which makes the loading process lasting longer.
is it possible to change that?

best regards,
kurt

ps: I am using web presence builder 11.0.14 which was pre-installed at my hoster.

Hi Kurt,

When you hide a page in Web Presence Builder it just disappears from the navigation but is still listed in the sitemap and will therefore be indexed by search engines. See also this post.

About the home page thing I don't know, at least I could not change the page address to 'nothing'. It would be nice if this would be possible. Up to someone from Parallels to answer your question.

Hi Dave

Thanks for the information.

Regarding my second question. I love the web presence builder, but this automatic redirecting from www.mysite.com to ww.mysite.com/home (or whatever start page is named) is a bit annoying.

in this forum I came across a site which is built with web presence, it is http://www.renaissancelimos.com.au/ and there it works. So I am curious what this guy exactly did.

Would be nice if someone from Parallels could explain, how this can be done (and if editing the homepage is then still possible). I have absolutely no clue about the tech stuff, I just see at cpanel at my hoster that there are tons of functions, so probably one of them could solve this?

Best regards, Kurt

Kurt, for your info: I just sent a private message to Patrick who serves cloudsevenlimo.com.au asking him for his advice.

Hello,

sorry, link was a mistake.
the site i meant was http://www.cloudsevenlimo.com.au/
this is built with web presence builder and here it does not automatically redirect to /home.
http://www.cloudsevenlimo.com.au/ is built in WPB 11.5.5.

Redirects was removed from WPB 11.1 (as I remember). Current latest released is WPB 11.5.7. Please ask your hoster to upgrade.

To avoid indexing of some pages by search engines you can use robots.txt file. I think you can find a lot of information how to use this file. Please tell me if you have questions with this.
