• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Resolved setup a Centos 6 server with Plesk

New Pleskian
hi there,

I want to setup at home a 'backup server' with Plesk
It should be Centos 6, because my production servers are also.Centos 6 servers.
My question is: is it enough to install a minimal server - without web, database and mail servers... and does Plesk install these... or should i choose a different approach?

Cheers,

Wiebe

Plesk will install the needed requirement.

Not sure how good a backup server would be without the appropriate software to utilize it...

Can you explain a little more what you’re looking to do?

I don't know what you mean by 'without the appropriate software to utilize it'?
Maybe it is a false sense of security, but it would feel good to have an exact copy of the server running at home.

Maybe I read your initial message incorrectly.... It sounds like you were wanting to backup the data without any applications being on the server but now that I read it again it sounds like you are asking about doing a minimal distro install. That's actually what I always do - It will work just fine with the Plesk installer handling the rest.
