  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Question SFTP

Wayne

New Pleskian
Is there any way to setup SFTP on Plesk Onyx 17.8.11 ?
Or do I have to install a SFTP server on Windows Server and use that?

Any help appreciated!

It is not possible to use SFTP in Plesk for Windows as SFTP only used on Linux environment.
SFTP refers to "SSH File Transfer Protocol". SFTP is based on the SSH2 protocol, which uses the binary encoding of messages over a secure channel.
This is only supported by Plesk in Linux Operating System.

Note that SFTP abbreviation is often mistakenly used to specify some kind of Secure FTP, by which people most often mean FTPS (secure FTP). Also, SFTP is thought to be some kind of FTP over SSL. In fact, SFTP is an abbreviation of “SSH File Transfer Protocol”. This is neither FTP over SSL, nor FTP over SSH (which is also technically possible, but very rare).

Thank you for the in depth response!
OK will need to think about the solution I need to put in place
