SMTP authentication failure

I've configured my mailsettings for sending mail with smtp authentication and only full mailnames are allowed.
But if i try to send mails from outlook or another client the smtp authentication fails.

Outlook says: No authentication protocol used by this client is supported from the server (translated from german, not exact)

I've tried to connect with telnet, but the username and/or password will be refused (base64 encoded and also plain text)

So nobody can send mails out trough my box, receive mails with pop3 works fine.
Can't locate anything about this issue in the logfile.

Some idea??

Hey man, check my current thread, its above yours. I suggest following most of the steps to make sure nothing is out of the ordinary..first.

At the very least it will confirm your not being used for spma, at the best...it will solve your problem.

I also noted that I was ejected from the SMTP server because of the MAP check I was doing...
I'm using NJABL.org DynIP lists, and then from certain ISP connections, I wasn't able to get into the SMTP to send mail from Outlook with the AUTH set.
Maybe this could help...
