SMTP server is not starting anymore after update Plesk 8.6.2

Hello,

After update to Plesk 8.6.2 Linux (debian) my SMTP server is not starting anymore and no emails are received anymore since the 13 of september. I Have restarted the whole system, restarted qmail, stop spamassassin, checked the DNS settings, stopped bind, stopped courier, have executed mchk -v, looked at the logs (not much seen there!!!)

I investing the machine a few hours now and don't know anymore what to do.

Any help is welcome.

Hello,

Please, check the status of xinit.d service:
# /etc/init.d/xinit.d status
# /etc/init.d/xinit.d restart

Try connecting on port 25 that is listed by SMTP:
# telnet localhost 25

Also, make sure that SMTP service settings are not commented in this file:
# vi /etc/xinit.d/smtp_psa

and 'disable' is set to 'no'

Thank you for your answer. I don't have the xinetd service running.

telnet localhost 25 will give connection refused.

I have restored the system to the previous version of Plesk. I'am interested what the problem was, so that i can do an update in the future. So hopefully you can help me further.
