Standard Forwarding Woes

Matt Sonnentag

Basic Pleskian
I have one primary domain setup with a large different domains that redirect to it. Right now that primary is set as physical hosting and the rest are set as standard forwarding to the primary domain.

However there is a problem:

We need every request to any file on a redirected domain to go to the home page, we can't seem to do this with standard forwarding.

Here is what happens:

Primary domain has file www.primary.com/xyz/fibble.html

If someone goes to www.forwardeddomain.com/xyz/fibble.com they end up on the same page. We would like to redirect them to the index page on www.primary.com

I know that I can do this with .htaccess, but I would have to setup each of these domains with physical hosting (I am being lazy, but there are a large number of them). My question is: is there anyway to alter how plesk does standard forwarding? A config file somewhere or entry in the psa database?

Thanks for the help.

Hello,

Unfortunately it is not possible to configure this feature via Parallels Plesk Panel.

Physical Hosting for each domain then

Well, I guess I will go through the process of setting up the physical hosting and then doing the redirect. I would think that someone at Parallels would have some king of insight to the way that Plesk is doing it, which would be nice to know. These domains in particular are for an seo type of person and they are pretty particular in how the redirects are working, apparently the Plesk implementation on 8.6 at least is not 100% to their liking.
