SUSE 10 SP2 Install confict

Hi, I'm trying to install a fresh copy on PleskCP on a fresh install of SUSE 10 SP2. This is the error message I get.

Remove the conflicting packages. You shouldn't have sendmail and postfix installed anyway. It's best to start with a minimal OS install and then install Plesk.

Thanks for the reply.

I've tried it without "sendmail" or "postfix" installed and it still give me the same message. The package "aaa_base" is required for the Linux to run in this setup. I've tried to remove it but it has dependencies.

I've even went as far as to install apache but it comes back with another failure of bind and aaa_base.

I'm starting to wonder if the Plesk auto installer is not made for SUSE 10 SP2.

We don't run SuSE, so I don't really know. Can you install apache2 using your package manager?

Yeah I've tried that too. The auto installer then comes back with another failure of bind and aaa_base.

Then install bind too and try again.

Do you think the auto installer is trying to install these two packages at the same time or because aaa_base is currently installed and the auto installer is trying to install apache? I know aaa_base is installed.

I don't really understand your question. I don't know why apache2 and aaa_base would somehow conflict, but like I said: we don't run SuSE and our machines don't have an aaa_base package. If you can install apache2 through you package manager, then apparently the packages don't really conflict. Or the autoinstaller tries install other versions (SP1 maybe?).

Yeah its confusing to me too. Ive spoken with the tech guys at Parallels and they said to uninstall aaa_base. No can do because it is needed by other packages. I've never had an install issue like this before with prior SUSE versions and I think its a problem with the Auto installer. Looks like I'll have to cough up the $150 to get Parallels to figure it out.

Hi,

Did you try installing bind as well and then running Plesk autoinstaller?
Also it is worth checking Plesk installer log /tmp/autoinstaller3.log to see more information about this package conflict.

Yeah if I install Apache and Bind the installer works fine. This is very odd because I've never had to do this on any other install. I'm still working through some issues but I will report back.
