"Test" directory in the Virtual Host Template?

In my Virtual Host Template, I'm seeing a directory named "test" which looks to contain test scripts for various items. Is this directory needed? Can it be deleted without repercussions?

This is a set of simple "hello world" scripts in different languages.
They help quickly evaluate whether some scripting works or not
I think you can remove it safely
