  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

test server load

hello!

A customer of mine would like to know if our server could handle a heavy server load.

Could someone advise me on a method to test my server under a heavy load?

I found via google a lot of companies that do that for you, but that is expensive... i'm more looking for a software that does that. The plesk 8.1 server is running on fedora core 3, and i am on windows XP.

thank you in advance,

Alexandre

what type of server do you have?

What are the load averages when you do top?

What is the server the client is currently running on and why do they want to move the site?

When they refer to load are they talking processor or bandwidth load?

hello,

the server i have:
fedoraCore 3

CPU GenuineIntel, Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz
Version psa v8.1.0_build81061212.22 os_FedoraCore 3
OS Linux 2.6.12-1.1381_FC3smp

1Ghz DDR RAM

The website is new so no previous hosting.

the load is about bandwidth.

the client expects a wave of 40000 users concurrently connecting to the website.

Checkout Jmeter (http://jakarta.apache.org/jmeter/)

Grab a couple of clients, and checkout your server, works great!

One tip though, check for your heap size (google) if you need a lot of connection you need to set the heap size a little bit higher!
