I am hope I am at the right place, I just purchased a VPS plan through a provider and the version of PHP within my initial Plesk 10 shell came preinstalled with php 5.1.6. not the current 5.3 version. I am told by them that Plesk 10 will not run PHP 5.3 within CentOS 5. Is this true?
Here is a couple quotes from our conversation:
Them:
"I'm sorry the plesk installer requires these packages. I removed the php packages and installed php53 from the CentOS respository, this caused an issue with Plesk's PHP -- it requires that you have the 5.1 version:
psa-php5-configurator Failed dependencies:
php-pdo is needed by psa-php5-configurator-1.6.1-cos5.build1012110525.15.x86_64
php is needed by psa-php5-configurator-1.6.1-cos5.build1012110525.15.x86_64
php-gd is needed by psa-php5-configurator-1.6.1-cos5.build1012110525.15.x86_64
php-imap is needed by psa-php5-configurator-1.6.1-cos5.build1012110525.15.x86_64
php-mbstring is needed by psa-php5-configurator-1.6.1-cos5.build1012110525.15.x86_64
php-mysql is needed by psa-php5-configurator-1.6.1-cos5.build1012110525.15.x86_64
php-xml is needed by psa-php5-configurator-1.6.1-cos5.build1012110525.15.x86_64
php-cli is needed by psa-php5-configurator-1.6.1-cos5.build1012110525.15.x86_64"
Me:
"Plesk 10 can run PHP5.3. See these links for reference:
http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=108371
http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=109479
Please let me know once you have the latest version of PHP up to date on my VPS."
Them:
"Yes, however the Plesk 10 php binaries that are packaged for CentOS 5 are built against the php version 5.1.x that is available in CentOS5."
End quotes**
I upgraded to a VPS from a VDS in order to get the latest version of PHP as the Sphera system that I was on previously would not run PHP 5.2.4. and I need at least that version to install Wordpress 5.2.1.
It is possible to install PHP 5.3.* in Sphera 10 through the container interface and have it play well?
The instruction referenced in the links I referenced above regarding this are a little above my comfort level. Surely this must be possible through the container interface.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
