  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

Upgrade from reseller license

Hi,

I am currently using Plesk through a self-mananged server reseller. I would like to purchase a product add-on, SmarterMail, but the reseller doesn't offer it and when I try to buy it myself by typing in my Plesk license it says I have to go through my reseller to purchase add-ons. The reseller suggested buying Plesk on my own with the add-ons I want. I am looking into this option but just had some questions.

Can I do a in place upgrade? By this I mean, can I just install a new SWSoft Plesk 8.2 over my current reseller Plesk 8.1? If I install it with the new SmarterMail email/webmail server, will it know to upgrade my current MailEnable/Horde accounts? I already have 50+ domains on the server and I just really do not want to lose any of my clients emails but I don't want a lot of downtime either for the upgrade. I know I can't always get what I want but I want this to be as smooth of a transition as possible for my clients.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
WaltD

In case you purchase a license from SWSoft directly - you just upload it: server > license management > upload - no downtime at all :) If you are the license owner you are free to add any add-ons to it, in case when it's owned by a reseller it may become a real pain in the neck.

To make sure that I haven't missed or mixed up something contact SWSoft directly. Use the link to email online store:
