Use a single directory for housing SSL and non-SSL content

Ok, like I have stated in other threads, I am new to plesk and VPS account. I have only had a couple shared hosting account in the past.

My question, (i'm sure it depends on the uses but...) is there really a need to have separate folders for https and http content. I will rarely use https content maybe on one site for a shopping cart but do I need to have them separate?

If not and I put a check mark in the "Use a single directory for housing SSL and non-SSL content" box, do I need to do anything else to have this work or does plesk do everything else for me.

If I have a site that is just a shopping cart such as zen-cart, should I put the whole thing in the https directory or what should be done with that? Can I just select to use one directory and just put it in the httpdocs folder so it works with either http: or https:?

Any light you can shed on this entire idea of separate folders would be much appreciated. Thanks

Place everything in the httpdocs directory and you will be able to access it from both http and https without a problem.

That is exactly how the system works.
