User names are forced to be email addresses

In Plesk 10, user accounts now appear to require an email address as their logins. Our business workflow and user management uses non-email address logins for Plesk. Is there any way to not require email addresses as login usernames?

If you find out how to do it short of manually editing users in the PSA database can you post a reference here. We also find this "feature" annoying and unnecessary in plesk 10.

Sorry, but I tried to create a new customer in Plesk 10.4.4 and it was like always - username and password - for panel and for subscription.

Or did you mean something different?

The issue we find is that the first account/owner can have a simple username like user1234 but any additional ones that are crated in that subscribers account must be of the format user@domin.tld We don't mind this for things like web users but where multiple "owners" or other specific roles such as webmasters etc for us not to be forced to have @domain.tld appended to the end of the user name by the plesk GUI. Being able to directly specify the username, at least for admins, would be great.

I guess it would also be nice for the server admin's to set the policy on this stuff rather than have it forced on us, especially when its clearly not a design issue otherwise the original subscriber account would also have a username in the email address format. This would allow plesk to be more easily integrated into existing work flows.

By the way I'm really glad to see you have brought back the ability to assign users to specific subscriptions as that was another problem for subscribers with multiple subscriptions wishing to give designers access to only one account.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for explaining it. Email addresses are used for login by design (with a compatibility extension to let subscribers login with usual names). We will consider changing it and enable generic names (w/o @domain.tld at the end)

BTW, you said email-like login format breaks your workflows. Does it mean these users access some other system of yours too and have different login there? Would a feature of auto-login into Plesk help here? If you have their Plesk password, we can help with a simple web form to submit...
